It's already been three months??

I thought being engaged for a year would seem like forever.
Why wouldn't it when you're waiting to marry the man of your dreams?
It came faster than I could have ever imagined.
Mostly because I got to spend the year with my lover.
Time flies when we are together!!
Plus, I love to organize and plan.
I had so much fun planning our wedding!!
I loved every second of it.
And it all paid off when everything went so smoothly.
We got married three months ago today.
June 13, 2010
Everything went off without a single problem.
We got married in the sand on Ha'ena beach.

Our ceremony was beautiful!!
We decided to do a traditional Hawaiian ceremony.

This is us washing our hands clean from everything in the past.
We are all that matters now.
Our future.

The whole ceremony was based on coconut trees and coconuts.
On the surface, there are thousands of individual trees.
Underground, all the roots connect into one living organism.
And that's how a marriage should be.
On the surface, there are two of us.
We are our own persons. Individuals.
But deep down we are connected; living and breathing as one.

Coconuts are what the first settlers lived off of.
Our officiant cracked a coconut with a rock...

Josh poured it on the ground for all our friends and family that have passed away that couldn't be there with us.
Then he fed me some, signifying that he'd always take care of me.
Then I did the same for him.
After, I poured it on the ground for all our friends and family that couldn't make it to our ceremony.

Palm fronds are what they used to make things like roofs, beds, shoes... things to protect them.
They gave us a woven frond that we each held with one hand, and with the other we held each other while the officiant walked around us chanting Hawaiian verses.

To end our ceremony, together we threw our coconut and palm frond into the ocean.

In Hawaii, rain is the only fresh water they get.
So, of course, they celebrate the rain.
It's said to be good luck to anyone who gets rain on their wedding day.
We got tons of it.
It held off for the two hours after our ceremony while we got pictures done.
Then it poured!!
So we hid in a cave.

It's also said that every rain drop that falls on your wedding day equals one time that you'll make love in your marriage.
We are gonna be busy ;-)
